2020 Vision

The end of a year is a time to reflect and review the year past while also setting goals for the year ahead. These goals are often the combination of quantitative financial targets and qualitative ambitions. Whatever KPIs your business uses, there will normally always be problems with confirming what defines success or failure - that one deal that closed on the wrong side of New Year could be the difference or, alternatively, those achievements that were unplanned but should yield long term growth may not be included. Therefore not as much emphasis should be on the short term calendar year end but on the 5 year projections and the trajectory the business is going.

In 2019, Finstock Capital continued to scale up and grow and the targets were easy to define - not least of which is to continue the momentum from 2018. There have been some notable milestones - we have now lent out more than £10m to early stage businesses, we have now completed R&D, VGTR, Film, and Theatre Tax loans as well as a number of short term venture debt deals. We have also been nominated and won awards which although does not add to the bottom line, does give us confidence that we are supporting our clients in the best way possible.

So - what can you expect in 2020. The easy answer is more of the same - we are looking to deploy more capital into this space and work with more companies. We have been delighted with the amount of returning customers over the past year but we also want to help more businesses. We are well aware of the difficulties in raising equity in the current environment - it takes longer than planned and we do feel we offer a compelling part of the funding journey on the way to profitability.

So, can we help you in 2020? Get in touch if you think we can or if you know someone we might be able to help. We are also going to be on the road more - visiting from Aberdeen to Brighton to talk through our offering. If you know of an event - get in touch. We would be delighted to talk through the short term funding landscape.
